Several weeks ago we moved all our stored personal belongings from a storage unit in Vancouver to a small room in Karley and Ian’s basement. Once again we went through everything (we went through it all when it was stored in Jay’s house in Markham last summer) and once again we reduced it somewhat. We repacked and reorganized boxes and reduced our “must keeps” by either recycling them to kids or donating them to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. The only things we hadn’t put away were our clothes and a trunk full of photographs and memorabilia.

Today we finally sorted through our clothes; the winter ones we don’t need or use when we are in the sunny south. It took us a few hours, but in the end we had another bag to go to the Salvation Army and what is left is stored in vacuum sealed plastic bags. The photographs and memorabilia are something I will sort through, a little bit each day, and the worse case scenario will be a well organized storage trunk in the end. It feels good to finally get this last bit of organizing done and now Karley and Ian can move around in their laundry room once again.

Yesterday, while Rick was holding Monet, he lowered her down so she could look at her big brother. To everyone’s surprise Makai walked over to them and promptly gave his little sister a big hug and kiss. We managed to encourage him to repeat his gesture so I could get a picture of him with his mom giving him a hand!
