It’s Raining, It’s Pouring PDF Print E-mail

It poured all night in Moab; something not seen often in this neck of the woods and along with the rain came thunder and lightening. We were up fairly early because today we headed south; on our way via Arizona to Kanab back in Utah. It rained all morning on our drive which prevented us from seeing the scenery clearly. Even through the rain and occasional fog patches, we could see that once again, the view before us was spectacular.

We drove into the Navajo Nation, through Monument Valley and could see the Echo Cliffs in the distance. With all the rain, we encountered several warnings of flash flooding and even came across the remnants of some on the highway. We also saw several secondary side roads completely washed out and previously dry creeks gushing with torrents of water. Once we arrived in Kayenta, Arizona (in the heart of Navajo Nation) the clouds cleared up and we enjoyed a couple of hours of sunshine.

We aren’t reserved into the Kanab RV Corral until tomorrow and having already changed that reservation once, we were informed that we couldn’t arrive any sooner. So rather than drive any further, in Page, Arizona we found a Wal-Mart Supercenter where we are parked until morning. We don’t use Wal-Mart’s hospitality very often but after checking with a manager, we were assured that we were welcome to stay for the night. As I write this it seems the rain has followed us and it is pouring once again. With luck, the forecast will improve for us tomorrow!
