Some Serious Contrasts |

Rick is fast becoming a landscape designer here at Catalina Spa, first with rebuilding the putting green that he started last fall and now “decorating” it. Last week he installed all the holes and flags and on Friday with Steve (the manager) and Jim (a resident maintenance man) in tow he built a cactus garden at one end of it. Today, he started a new cactus garden and bit by bit (garden by garden) the entrance to the park is improving drastically. br>Meanwhile our weather is still quite cool, today’s high reached 68F (20C), but still much warmer than what the folks in BC are experiencing. Yesterday Mother Nature dumped 38 cm. (15+ inches) of snow on much of the west coast which is still reeling from some wild wet weather from a few weeks ago. Yesterday’s unusual weather has continued and they are dealing with power outages and unseasonably cold temperatures. Meanwhile, the central areas of Canada and the US are experiencing unseasonably warm weather, another example of wonky weather. br>This picture is of the putting green with the newest garden in place and the oldest members of the Ian MacLachlan family (Monet was napping) enjoying an afternoon of making a snowman! br>
