During the day while Ian is at work, Makai and Rick seem glued at the hip, with Makai following Rick wherever he goes. They putter around the house together, water the garden together, use tools together and “be guys” together; it’s pretty cute. Today they even went shopping together and stopped at Starbucks on the way home.

In the almost two months that we have been here, we have seen Makai grow taller, we have heard his vocabulary increase and have watched his coordination improve dramatically. He’s also learned a lot! One of the things that Rick would do with Makai when we first got here was while he was helping him get dressed, he would smell Makai’s feet. Then he would teasingly say in a loud voice, “ehwwww” and screw up his face.

Well, it seems that Makai has learned this little ritual very well because now he walks up to any one of us and sniffs our feet, one at a time, screws up his face and says, “ehwww” just like Grandpa. It’s nothing to be standing at the counter when this little munchkin is suddenly at my feet sniffing them! Recently, he has even started going through this little routine with his baby sister as you can see in this picture. My question is this….Grandpa, what have you done??
