We decided last week that our daily walk would be a Monday-to-Friday thing and we would give ourselves a break on the weekends. This morning we headed out again without a blackberry bucket; (we still had lots left from Thursday & Friday) no doubt we were a comical “wagon train” to be seen on our morning walk. There we are; three adults, two pushing strollers, one of them with a camera around her neck and the third with a child attached to her breast. Barney (aka Barnacle Betty or Monet) spends two thirds of the walk in her stroller contentedly sleeping, however by the time we round the corner for the last third, she is hungry once again. Makai (aka the berry monger) is as happy as a lark and by the time we reach the berry bushes he is ready for his snack which of course consists of blackberries.

When we arrived here in May, Karley and Ian proudly showed us through their new home in Mission. In the basement is a large area that has been designated to become a fully equipped hair salon so that Karley can continue to work at home. Getting the room finished has been something that Ian has been very anxious to do especially with Rick here to help. He’d started the floor before we arrived but everything had come to a standstill with Karley’s advancing pregnancy. Last week there were several evenings with Rick and Ian working late into the night in the basement and yesterday the job was completed enough to use it. There are a few finishing touches to be done but they can be worked on a bit at a time. In the meantime, Rick became the first “client” to break in the equipment but not without some help from Makai and Monet on the couch looking on!
