When I was a child and I referred to the “olden days”, to me they were back when women wore long dresses and donned petticoats and corsets. My children as youngsters perceived “olden days” as any era prior to 1975 which certainly made me feel like an antique. It’s funny how different generations can alter definitions!

This week Rick and I decided to investigate the entertainment possibilities coming to this area over the next few months. With several casinos in the Coachella Valley as well as other entertainment venues, there is usually quite an assortment of entertainers to choose from. To our delight INXS is coming to the valley on December 1st and now we have tickets to see them. They may not quite be from the “olden days” but we have been listening to them (or a variation of them) since 1977. Part of the reason we want to see them is because their new lead singer, (who joined them by way of Rock Star: INXS, a reality contest show) J.D. Fortune, is Canadian and though we didn’t watch the whole series, we did see him win.

The other concert we bought tickets for is Gordon Lightfoot, the Canadian folk singer who actually grew up in Orillia (where all our kids went to school). Now he truly IS from the “olden days” but we have heard he puts on a pretty good show so we are looking forward to it. It has been quite sometime since either of us has attended a “rock” concert (and the first time at a “folk” concert) so I suppose we will be revisiting the “olden days” (by our kids definition). It should be fun!

As I mentioned yesterday, the hot, hot weather that we've been enjoying has left us but the good weather is still here. This is the view that we woke up to this morning!
