We are leaving Mission in the Moho on Thursday to head to a Kawasaki Voyager rally in Rapid City, South Dakota. We’ve never attended a motorcycle rally before so it should be interesting and of course, while we are there we will be doing some sightseeing. In order to leave here Rick had to make some modifications to the trailer and reorganize things in it. Today was dedicated to getting that task completed.
Having a new, much smaller car has made a huge difference in how our trailer is packed and organized and it has also allowed Rick to change how everything is loaded in it. The motorcycle has always been loaded through the side door, parked on an angle and anchored with the front wheel nosed into a front corner of the trailer. The luggage compartment of the bike was always pushed forward to fit it in and then everything else was carefully stowed around it. Now it can be loaded straight in, driven in via the back ramp, the luggage compartment can be left alone and our two bicycles are nicely parked and anchored beside the motorcycle.
Rick can easily get the Mini in and he no longer needs to climb out of the driver’s window to get out of the car because there is enough room to open the door! The heavy custom built side ramp no longer needs to be stowed on the side door as we won’t need it which will preserve the hinges. He worked diligently all day and tonight he had two little helpers to try out the bike to make sure it was okay! As you can see, both Makai and Monet thought it was just right!
