Okay so don’t get too excited. We were up at the crack of dawn despite the fact both of us slept better and more soundly than we have in a long time. It must have been the anticipation of finally being done with our repairs and being able to head west after such a lengthy delay. Rick drove the Moho over to the service yard (we stay parked in the front lot where it is less dusty) and I followed him with the car. Jeremy met us and immediately took our Moho in to tweak the door and make whatever adjustments he could to reduce the wind noise. Rick, forever the optimist, dared to imagine that it would be ready by 9:00 AM. We headed to Nappanee for our last baked oatmeal breakfast at the Main Street Coffee House and we talked of our before noon departure. To give them extra leeway we waited until 10:00 to return to the yard and when we arrived our coach was still in the shop. Waaaahh! Rick went into investigate and it was the boy’s coffee break so there was no one to be found to talk to but he did see that some modifications had been done. Whew! Shortly afterwards Jeremy came to get us to take us for a test drive and though there was some improvement, the noise was still there! Arghh! After every adjustment possible we were facing the prospect of having the whole door replaced which would mean at least another three days here and we were not at all happy. How could this be? Sadly the first team that worked on the Moho was just plain incompetent and had they not been, we would have been out of here back in April when we had our first appointment. However like I said before, we wouldn’t have formed some great friendships, we wouldn’t have met some other super nice people and we wouldn’t have a black door (even though it is noisy). Well, Jeremy sought some additional help, added some more silicone, did some more tweaking and at 3:45, we were hooking up the trailer and preparing to go. Yay!! So as I write this, we are at a rest stop in Iowa using their free wireless after “quietly” driving into the sun for the past 7 hours. We have gained an hour (Central time) and as I predicted yesterday, we spent our last night in Indiana for a long time. Are we happy? We are both pinching ourselves and grinning like Cheshire Cats!! I took a picture of the last buggy we passed as we left Amish country and as we crossed into Illinois, the sign through our bug-splattered windshield.
