We woke up to blue sky and sunshine this morning with the promise of lots more in the forecast and highs in the upper teens Celsius (60'sF). We wanted to go into Eugene to what is billed as the "oldest, open-air, craft festival" in the US and the weather was certainly co-operating.

Eugene's Saturday Market is located downtown not far from the University of Oregon and parking on the weekend is free. First we wandered around the farmers market where almost every vendor offered fresh organic produce, plants and honey. I was in paradise!  Innocent We bought salad greens, baby white turnip, asparagus and a variety of mushrooms, fresh and dried. After putting our purchases in the car we then walked across the road to the craft area.

It was like going to Kempenfest in Barrie, only they hold this every Saturday. It is a gathering of craftsmen and women, all with their own unique creations for sale with musicians to entertain us while we wandered around the booths. There were woodworkers, potters, jewellery makers, seamstresses, ceramic artists, silversmiths, blacksmiths, painters, glassblowers, henna artists and stone carvers. We enjoyed mountain music, acappella singers, folk artists and guitarists. In the centre of the market were a number of booths offering a wide variety of food, all with healthy choices.

On the way home we stopped at a great health conscious store, Market of Choice, where we were able to pick-up a few more groceries. It is so nice to be in an area where we can readily purchase an abundance of organic food at reasonable prices. Today was a real treat for us! Laughing
