In the morning, when I use the Nordic-Trac, I look out onto the ocean and watch whatever activity is going on at the time. There are a pair of small black rabbits, Pete and Re-Pete, that are often grazing on the grass around the park and they scurry under their owner's, (our next door neighbour) RV whenever a camper walking his or her dog goes by. Our neighbours at the back of us, a retired RCMP officer and his wife, have an unobstructed view of a tree just 20 yards from their site, where a pair of eagles roost every day for about an hour. Yesterday before we headed into Comox, we sat with them as the pair chirped and chattered back and forth oblivious of their fascinated audience. Salmon Point RV Park is an interesting place.

Today we drove to Parksville, a little over an hour south of here. We are heading to Tofino, on the west coast of the island on September 1 for two weeks and we think we might like to stay there when we get back. We checked out several RV parks and then stopped at Qualicum Beach on the way back for a late lunch.

We then headed into Campbell River to buy an inflatable two-man kayak. We have been looking into purchasing a kayak for some time but didn't want to have to carry the extra weight or bulk. We discovered this type last week while we were in Sidney and found that they are extremely durable and a lot less "tippy" than the conventional type. Now that we are up here, we know we would get more use out of it and it turns out that it was a lot less expensive than the one we saw in Sidney.

SO now we have kayak, it weighs 38 lbs. and it comes with it's own carrying case! I'll keep you posted with our new adventures.
