A New Baby Boy! PDF Print E-mail

By 1:00 AM, Karley, in extreme physical and emotional pain was finally being prepared for a Caesarean section and was transferred down to the surgical floor at BC Woman's Hospital. She had been in labour for over 20 hours and was very distraught at the prospect of not being able to deliver her baby vaginally.

Rick and I waited on a hard wooden bench, outside of the surgical unit and finally at 2:25 AM, a nurse came out to tell us that Mom, Dad and our new grandson were doing fine! Shortly afterward, Ian proudly came out to show us his perfect, bright-eyed son bundled carefully in his arms and to let us know that Karley was doing fine. At last, we are the grandparents of a beautiful, baby boy and we are elated. After gathering our things we were able to leave the hospital and go home to get some sleep and hopefully, the happy new parents would get some too!

For the moment, junior has a middle name of James but as of this writing, no first name. He weighed in at eight pounds, six ounces and is the most beautiful little boy we have ever seen. (What kind of grandparents would we be, if we didn't see that!?!) Karley and Ian are exhausted but happy and we will be back at the hospital in the evening. Stay tuned for more and better pictures!
