The main reason that we are camped at Burl's Creek beside the Barrie Speedway this weekend has finally arrived...the Cascar Race. The weather is perfect, with an expected high of 26C with very little humidity. Since we arrived here on Thursday, we have watched the number of campers increase with the greatest number arriving yesterday.

Despite a late night last night we were up fairly early so that we would be ready for the big event, slated to start at 2 o'clock. So far this year, Mark Dilley (driver of Car #9), Rick's "nephew-in-law", has won one race and is in third place in the Cascar standings. Today, with so many of his friends and family in attendance, we were hoping this day would see "win number two". After a laid back morning and veggie burgers for lunch, we made our way to the racetrack shortly after noon to wish Mark "Good Luck" and to get some seats where we would have a good vantage point and view of the track.

The race was exciting and well worth seeing especially as Mark did indeed win his second race of the season, much to the delight of his fans and family. Though there were several cautions due to track conditions and a few fender benders and crunches, overall the 300 laps went by fairly quickly. Between the weather, the many family members attending and the outcome of the race, we had a pretty terrific day and one certainly worth waiting for. Congratulations Mark, it looks good on you!
