A Great Day in Oregon PDF Print E-mail

When you live and travel in a motorhome, you normally take your bed with you wherever you go; hence staying anywhere else is always a gamble. To our pleasant surprise the bed and the pillows at the Super 8 Motel here in Salem are great and last night we slept like babies. Of course after such a lengthy day on a motorcycle, we probably would have slept soundly in a ditch but it was nice to find comfort in a bed other than our own.

This morning we rode to Eugene to take a look at a 2003 Kawasaki Voyager that we’d found for sale. Our 1988 model is identical, other than the colour and the mileage (ours has 142,000 Kms.) so we are thinking of upgrading to something newer. We took the I-5 to Eugene but we rode back via Highway 99, a much nicer drive with a lot more scenery. We rode through major farm and winery country and it was absolutely gorgeous; we finally understood why our friends, Rich and Laura love it here.

From Eugene we headed to Portland-Dayton RV Park to get together with our wine loving friends for dinner. We had hoped to hook up with them last night but with our late arrival it was impossible. Rich and Laura drove us into nearby McMinnville, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner at one of the many brew pubs. As in the past, we had a great time with our RVing pals and look forward to spending the day together tomorrow.
