Yesterday, Jay came out from Vancouver to help Rick with the moving and to spend some time with Makai, Karley and Ian. On Fridays, occasionally Ian can get away from work early and yesterday was one of those days. For Makai, that meant there were just way too many people to choose from to keep him entertained and he spent his afternoon going from one person to another completely in his glory.

The guys used a couple of hours to do some landscaping in the front yard, shoveling topsoil and moving compost from the backyard to the front until a bear started rummaging through the neighbours yard; a little too close for comfort. Landscaping coming to a screeching halt, it was time for some R & R before a dinner of BBQ’d salmon burgers and Greek salad. With the bear having made its way elsewhere we quite safely sat down for our dinner outside on the back patio, enjoying some really great weather.

With no bears around, this morning the men finished the landscaping by noon and after lunch, Rick and Ian decided to take Makai to the drag races at the Mission Raceway for a while. Karley used the opportunity to take a much needed nap, Jay headed home and I got caught up on my email and laundry. The weather is fantastic (at last) and the long-range forecast is for more of the same so hopefully, this is just one of many great weekends we’ll enjoy this summer.
