This afternoon Karley had a pedicure appointment; a “post-pregnancy” gift from one of her friends and a much appreciated break from her daily routine. Makai was sleeping when she left, Ian and Rick were working in the basement and Monet was dozing in her chair. We’ve learned that as long as she is rocking or bouncing, she sleeps restfully for three or four hours at a time. Her chair has a built-in vibrator and often she will sit contentedly awake as well and it is nice to see her becoming more alert with each passing day.

Tonight, Karley and Ian were going out on a date, their first since before Monet was born and something that is and will continue to be a rarity for them for a while. As a result, we volunteered to baby-sit both children while they were out and once they came home, we would take Monet overnight. It’s been over twenty-seven years since I have had to wake up through the night with an infant so it should be interesting.

While they were out Rick reassembled the baby swing that Makai used when he was an infant and Makai was very curious to see it work. It seems to have a mechanical problem right now but Makai enjoyed rocking his own “baby” in it tonight.
