Last winter Rick and I took part in a bird-carving class taught by Vern Hesketh, an award winning bird carver who stays here for the winter. Once I got involved in teaching myself, I stopped going to class and Rick tried to complete both our birds, black-capped chickadees. Though they are mounted and on display in the motorhome, they still need some finishing touches to complete them. br>
Today, Rick began a new bird-carving project in Vern’s class, creating a Saw-whet Owl and this time it is a bird he hopes to fully complete. With the weather being so hot, today they worked outside and I managed to get a picture of the budding bird-carver in action! I will keep you updated on Rick’s progress so stay tuned. br>
