Overnight Saturday the wind began to blow hard and we woke up to RAIN pelting on the roof!!! It so seldom rains here that when it does we are always a little amazed. The temperature dropped as well and when we woke up the mountain I photograph so often had a light dusting of snow frosting the upper elevations (see yesterday’s blog entry). The sky was a brilliant blue and there were a few clouds hanging around the mountain peak but there were no rain clouds in this area.

We looked west towards the Banning Pass and it looked like everything west of there might still be under the siege of rain. The local news was indicating white-out conditions at Big Bear Lake which we had visited just a few weeks ago on the motorcycle. So yesterday and today we were bundling up again because our high only reached 22C (71.6F) and overnight it dipped to 8C (46.4F).

I suppose it is a good thing because it helps us to get conditioned for our car trip north later in the week to BC. We will be leaving here on Thursday evening to get past the whole LA traffic thing. Though we don’t go to LA, the traffic from there spreads far and wide and short of going east, we will encounter some of it regardless of what route we take. We’d rather avoid it at night when it is quieter than get into it full throttle in the daytime. Besides the sooner we leave the sooner we get to hug these little folks!
