The Final Days Print

Before the new owners moved in, I walked around the house a little misty-eyed, remembering all the wonderful times I had spent here, first with Jim, then with Rick. Jamie was just 3 and 1/2 years old and it seemed like yesterday. So many people had come and gone from here; there were many parties, Christmases and dinners. This house had been so good to us and she served us well. It was time to say goodbye and I did.

The new owners refinished all the hardwood floors, something we had always wanted to do but couldn't with all the furniture in place. They look fabulous! They have agreed to let us stay parked beside the house until the deal officially closes so this week we have been tying up loose ends. Rick has been showing the new owner the mechanics of the outdoor wood furnace and the tractor. We have been informing every one of our new mailing address, phone number and email address.

Jay and Rachel and Bill and Laura decided to have a Christmas tree trimming party to which we were invited. We had decided to give Susan, Rachel's mom, some of the larger house plants that the kids didn't want and drove them down to Markham in the motorhome. Rosanne and Bea, Rick's mom, came with us. We were late arriving to the party after delivering the plants but it was great to see how the kids had decorated their house with all their new furniture.

Here is a picture of Jay and Rachel at the party.
