Saying Bye to Mom Print

After three days and four moving vans, the new owners are settling in, lovingly turning the house into their home. It is nice to know that it will be loved as much by them as it was by us. They replaced the hot tub with theirs, a much fancier one, and moved in their pool table. On Friday the deal closes but we will be staying at here until Monday when we get possession of an eight-bedroom condo over in Collingwood. It may be the last chance for all of us to be together for Christmas in a while.

We went in to Victoria House to visit Mom and say goodbye, at least for now. She seemed quite happy to see us though I am still not sure if she fully comprehends the fact that we are no longer living at the house. She seems to get a bit confused lately but I am hoping she is just dealing with it her way. When she was 21, she moved to Canada with Dad and rarely saw her parents again and moving with the Air Force so frequently would have prepared her for moments like this. Rick managed to get a picture of us together with Mom actually smiling. For some reason, Mom has never been very good at smiling for a camera so this is a rare treat!
