| Back on Pacific Time At Last |

 Though we have been back in BC since Monday, we have only just crossed into the Pacific Time Zone today. Finally my watch is on time because I never changed it to Mountain Time anyway! We left Radium Hot Springs this morning taking the northwest route through Golden and along the TransCanada Highway. The driving conditions were ideal with clear blue skies and temperatures in the high 20’sC (low 80’sF). We drove through Canada’s Glacier National Park and Revelstoke National Park and we even passed some white mountain goats grazing right at the side of the highway. It was a very pretty and spectacular drive. At one point near Salmon Arm we came across two baby black bears, dead on the road, and a transport truck pulled over at the side, the apparent vehicle responsible for their sad demise. The poor trucker was obviously shaken by what had happened and probably unsure about what he should do. No doubt there was a frantic mother bear somewhere nearby and it would be in the driver’s best interest to stay in his cab. We were very saddened by what we saw. The outside temperatures rose the further west we got and in Kamloops the outside thermometer read 39°C (102°F). I was glad we weren’t stopping there for the night and as we rose into the mountains again the temperature dropped a little. We are staying at a wide open truck stop on the outskirts of Merritt for the night. With the sun going down, it is beginning to cool off outside and fortunately with our generator on, the air conditioning is starting to cool things off inside as well. I took this picture as we were driving through Glacier National Park; just a typical pretty BC scene and one of many we enjoyed today!
