We Were Almost Excited |

Despite the fact that we set our alarm clock for 5:00 AM, we were both awake at 4:15 in anticipation of that early morning wake up call. Why do we do that to ourselves? Arghhh! Needless to say, we were ready for our 6:30 service call to have our door reinstalled in the Moho. Because the team looking after us has been less than adequate, yesterday we requested that someone more capable reinstall our door. Today we were relieved when we saw a new face (but a familiar technician to us) at our door and that our request had been granted. At noon, the end of the half day of overtime the service department was putting in, our Moho was returned and the door had been reinstalled with no need for additional paint. We were almost excited at the prospect of finally being finished here at last but soon discovered that some trim around the lights and all our decals were yet to be installed. Unfortunately the service department had no access to the missing parts until Monday. We then took the coach for a test drive to see if the wind noise had been eliminated with the reinstallation of the door and that too needs further adjustments. So here we are…. still waiting. The other day I listed the downside of being delayed here but today I want to focus on the upside which certainly outweighs all the negatives. First we have made some very good friends; Jim and Barb from Texas, Don and Dee from California and Homer and Brenda from Bremen, Indiana. Without our extended stay we would not have met these great folks and that would have been a real loss for us. Secondly we have a new window on the driver’s side which is an improved model from the original one and the wind noise on Rick’s side of the coach is gone completely. Thirdly, the fibreglass repairs that were ultimately done are better than the original work when the coach was new. Fourthly, we purchased some really cool wooden balcony furniture for our new condo. Finally, because of the extensive repairs, the 3M shield is all new, any stone-chips we had on the front from the 35,000 miles we have put on the Moho have been completely repaired and we finally have a black door. We are the closest we’ve been to actually leaving here and are confident that by Tuesday morning (at the latest) we will be pulling out of Amish country at long last. In the meantime the weather is beautiful; we have clear blue skies, comfortable temperatures (mid 20’s° C, high 70’s°F) and nothing but dry, sunny weather for the next few days. Life is good! Here’s a picture Rick took the other day of an Amish farmer with his team of workhorses riding along the road, a rare sight (usually we see them in the field); life IS indeed good!
