june 3-07.jpgWe were woken up this morning by the loud, rumbling of a severe thunderstorm and a major downpour of rain. All week the forecast was calling for thunderstorms and all we saw was plenty of sunshine and today the forecast was for showers so we shouldn’t have been surprised when the thunder began crashing!

Because most of the nearby area is pretty much closed on Sundays, today we decided to venture to Merrillville in north western Indiana. There are no nearby Costco stores and we learned that Merrillville was home to the closest one. Shortly after noon, we picked up our friends, Dee and Don and headed west on Highway 30. The drive was good especially because by the time we arrived in Merrillville, the rain had stopped and the sun was shining. We were also surprised and pleased to find ourselves in the Central time zone; gaining an hour even for a short time was good. Anyone who reads this regularly knows that Rick and I like Costco…a lot and it has been almost a month since we have been to one. We needed our fix and though we didn’t buy much it was still good to check out the store to see what was available.

When we returned home we were back in rain again but by 7:00 it was beginning to clear up with the weather considerably cooler than what we have been experiencing all week. Tonight I moved back into the Scottish B & B with Sam, the cat, and Rick stayed at the Moho. He needs to talk to the service technicians in the morning before they get started on the rig and because their day starts at 7:00, it would be more restful for both of us if he stays there alone. Sam and I settled in quickly; it has become our second home and Rick will join us tomorrow.

Just as I was getting checked in at the Scottish B & B, the sun was beginning to set. The weather was still a little unsettled and consequently made for a beautiful sky.
