Last September before we started on our journey in our new life, we debated what vehicle we would tow and how we would tow it. We finally decided to keep what we had, the Jetta, until we could come up with a better alternative. Over the past several months we have flipped and flopped between towing the car in a covered trailer, an SUV, a van or just a larger car. The best thing about the Jetta is that it has excellent fuel mileage and uses diesel however the biggest problem is how uncomfortable it is. I don't know if VW's are just designed for younger people or perhaps shorter people or if we are just oddities but after only an hour in it, our hips are killing us. No matter how much we adjust the seats, there seems to be no resolve to our discomfort. Of course if we have a guest, the comfort level is further reduced because we have to pull the seats forward to accommodate them and the legroom is even less.

We tried getting different seats for the Jetta but we were told there we none available for it. So we have finally made the decision to purchase a new tow vehicle. We looked at several possibilities including a Jetta station wagon and a Honda Odyssy, but we have settled on a 2004 Honda Accord. We had a 1998 Accord and we loved it and it is towable therefore it was an easy decision. It is roomier, more comfortable, has all the features we want, can accommodate a bike rack and the price was right. Today we picked up our new car and finally our hips and backs will have a much-needed respite from the pain of the Jetta.
