As most of you know, we travel in our motorhome with our cat, Sambucca. When we embarked on this journey, we had two cats but in May, Sasha moved back in with Karley, her original owner. Ever since that move, Sam has become an extremely visible, affectionate cat. With Sasha in her life, she used to spend most of her day sleeping and hiding to avoid her adopted sister. Now she hangs around with us as much as possible and checks on our whereabouts frequently throughout the day.

When we planned to visit Karley and Ian, we would only plan to be gone from the motorhome for one night. We knew Sam would be very distressed with our overnight absence and we didn't want to put her through that for two nights. The nice thing about travelling with a cat is that we don't need to take her for walks and she can be left for extended periods of time, however since Sam has become a solo cat she seems to need us more. When we arrived back here last night we were greeted by a loud, anxious, extremely relieved cat at the door. She meowed constantly and followed us back and forth to the bedroom as we put our stuff away. If we sat down for a minute, she was instantly on our laps, rubbing her face into a free hand, seeking the reassurance of our presence again.

It is nice to be greeted so lovingly by a pet, be it a dog or a cat and that is one of the reasons we humans bring pets into our lives. Sasha has settled in nicely with Karley and Ian and we have acquired an affectionate, loving companion, Sam The Cat. However with her behaviour, it brings to mind a sign we saw on Saturday; Cats don't have owners, they have staff! Wink
