Customer Appreciation |

The park here is clearing out. Many of the RVers that have been here since we arrived pulled out today, presumably for warmer climates however there are still a handful of people who apparently live here but we seldom see them. There is little or no camaraderie here, unlike the parks we visited last year and we are sure that part of the reason is because, with the exception of Flora in the office, the staff here are very cold and unfriendly. The Burnaby-Cariboo RV Park offers exceptionally clean facilities, a nice pool and hot tub, a great laundry mat, a comfortable lounge and tidy campsites. The location is perfect; easy to get to and close to Karley and Ian and downtown. We would have no complaints if the management would make an effort to make us feel welcome. It is not inexpensive to stay here and a little friendliness would make all the difference in how we feel about it. After owning a resort for 12 years and working in the service industry most of our lives, we are particularly aware of the importance of making customers feel appreciated. Evidently it isn't something they feel the need to practice here and it is a real shame. One of the things we really miss by not travelling this year is meeting other RVers and staying in friendly parks. Our thoughts when we started this journey was that if we didn't like our neighbours we could move, however Makai's arrival has changed our plans. His birth has made being stationary in an unfriendly park well worth the aggravation and we will just have to ignore our hosts for now. In fact, being able to watch the little guy grow makes staying here completely bearable.
